Some Like It Cozy, A Welcome Note

Welcome to my newest creation, Some Like It Cozy, a place for fans of the coziest mysteries everywhere to come together and compare notes about their favorite cozy mysteries! I have carefully selected the coziest mystery books that I have ever read for your consideration. This list will never be complete, and I sincerely hope that you join me often to discuss your favorites and mine as well.

To begin this Blog, I want to highlight one of my most favorite authors of the cozy British mystery, M.C. Beaton! "Marion Chesney is known primarily for the more than 100 historical romance novels she has published under her own name and under several pseudonyms: Helen Crampton, Ann Fairfax, Jennie Tremaine, and Charlotte Ward. If you have not yet discovered Miss Beaton, I encourage you to start with the first Agatha Raisin mystery, Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death, a wonderful book that introduces us to Agatha Raisin, perhaps one of the most realistic character in all of print! She is very flawed, from her worries over her figure (roundish) to her penchant for that horrid and very un-PC habit of smoking! Dear Agatha can be loud, obnoxious, and a bit hard to love, but you cannot help but love her nonetheless - that is a guarantee!

Next up for Miss Beaton has to be the first in her line of Scottish Highlands mysteries featuring Hamish Macbeth, A Highland Christmas. Macbeth is a single copper who patrols his large beat with pride and not a little laziness. He might also on occasion poach a few fish and maybe a free cuppa where he can get it! But the tall red-headed constable is so lovable and brighter than most give him credit for that it will not take you long to forget where you are as you lose yourself in the gorgeous Highlands of Scotland. So take a trip across the big pond without leaving the comfort of your favorite chair and get to know one of your favorite characters that you haven't yet met!
